YWTT
Yorkshire Wolds Teacher Training is based at the campus of South Hunsley School and Sixth Form, part of The Education Alliance, offering school-led teacher training and the award Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) for trainee teachers. As part of a growing trust, The Education Alliance, South Hunsley School and Sixth Form is an Outstanding school and has a long standing history of excellence in Initial Teacher Training. Trainees experience placements in a wide range of school-based settings working with outstanding practitioners.
During the year-long course trainees will spend time, as a group, at the YWTT Training Base on the campus of South Hunsley School and Sixth Form. Trainees will be working with the school-led teacher training team and lecturers, engage in our comprehensive ITT development sessions, covering pedagogy, practice and theory collectively through your school and university sessions. This includes a one-week induction to education programme at the beginning of the course and approximately one day a week throughout the year. All trainees will have full access to university resources and expertise, studying towards a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.
YWTT is accredited to provide trainees with Qualified Teacher Status, (QTS) To enhance our outstanding course, we commission Sheffield Hallam University, (University of the Year for Teaching Quality 2020) to combine our QTS with Masters Qualifications to award a full PGCE qualification.
The PGCE assignments are carefully integrated into YWTT provision, ensuring a coherent training package. PGCE sessions are delivered at the YWTT training base by Sheffield Hallam tutors who will support you through specially designed modules that enable you to analyse your classroom practice in the light of research and educational theory.
